Pomegranate Quality Evaluation Using Non-Destructive Approaches: A Review

Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) is one of the most healthful and popular fruits in world. The increasing demand for pomegranate has resulted it being processed into different food products supplements. Researchers over years have shown interest exploring non-destructive techniques as alternative approaches quality assessment harvest at on-farm point to retail level. are more efficient, inexpensive, faster yield accurate results. This paper provides a comprehensive review recent applications technology evaluation fruit. Future trends challenges using highlighted this paper. Some include computer vision, imaging-based approaches, spectroscopy-based electronic nose hyperspectral imaging technique. Our findings show that focused on grading fruit machine vision systems nose. Measurements total soluble solids (TSS), titratable acidity (TA) pH well other phytochemical attributes also been reported. Value-added such fresh-cut dried arils, juice seed oil non-destructively investigated their numerous attributes. information expected be useful not only those grower/processing industries but agro-food commodities.
